Compounds in this category are studied at the level of thymic peptide signalling and lymphocyte biology, covering T-cell maturation, cytokine signalling, and innate immune activation. Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28-residue acetylated peptide derived from prothymosin alpha, researched for its effects on T-cell differentiation and dendritic cell signalling in culture. Thymulin is a nonapeptide whose activity is zinc-dependent: the metal-free form is inactive, which makes zinc availability a variable in any experiment that uses it. Thymagen (Thymogen) is the dipeptide Glu-Trp, developed by a separate programme from the Khavinson bioregulator series, and is studied for peptide regulation of immune gene expression. HEP-1, also called Gepon, is a short synthetic oligopeptide arising from work on the ezrin protein, researched for cytokine and mucosal immune responses.
