What is Pure-SEM-1?
Pure-SEM-1 is a chain of 31 amino acids made in a laboratory, modeled on the body's own hormone GLP-1. It came out of an industry research program that set out to make a longer-lasting version. The aim was to help it bind albumin, a protein in blood, and to protect it from breakdown. Compared with the human hormone, two building blocks in its chain are swapped, and a fatty-acid chain is attached to a third. In lab tests it bound albumin more strongly than an earlier fatty-acid-linked version of GLP-1 did, and bound the GLP-1 receptor about a third as strongly. Electron-microscope maps of it attached to the receptor show it touching the receptor much as GLP-1 does, though the receptor and the peptide moved differently. It has been tested in cells and in animals, and studies in people have been published.
Pure-SEM-1 Research & Reference
What Pure-SEM-1 does in published studies, and how to work with it in the laboratory, are covered in full on two dedicated pages rather than summarised here, so neither the evidence nor the handling detail is cut short.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Pure-SEM-1 third-party tested for purity?+−
Yes. Every batch of Pure-SEM-1 is tested by an independent third-party laboratory using HPLC and MS-UPLC, confirming purity and mass identity before the batch is released. Pure Peptides does not test its own material.
What does "Research Use Only" mean?+−
It means Pure-SEM-1 is supplied for in-vitro laboratory research and for no other purpose, and must not be administered to humans or animals.
How is Pure-SEM-1 shipped and stored?+−
Pure-SEM-1 ships from US stock with cold-chain packaging and full tracking; orders placed before noon EST on business days are typically dispatched the same business day. On arrival, store the lyophilized powder at -20°C or below, dry and protected from light.
How does Pure-SEM-1 differ from human GLP-1?+−
It is built on human GLP-1(7-37) with two building blocks swapped: Aib takes the place of the native residue at position 8, and arginine replaces lysine at position 34, both in GLP-1 numbering. Lysine 26 carries a C18 fatty-acid side chain, attached through γ-glutamic acid and two AEEA spacers. Its designers aimed to raise its binding to albumin, a blood protein, and to make it stable against breakdown in the body.
Why are its positions numbered two ways?+−
Positions can be counted along Pure-SEM-1's own 31-residue chain, or in the numbering of the hormone it is based on, GLP-1(7-37), whose first residue is position 7. Position 2 in the chain is therefore position 8 in GLP-1 numbering, lysine 20 is lysine 26, and position 28 is position 34. Published research on the molecule uses GLP-1 numbering.
How does Pure-SEM-1 differ from Pure-TRZ-2 and Pure-RTA-3?+−
Pure-SEM-1 is built on GLP-1 and activates the GLP-1 receptor. Pure-TRZ-2 activates the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, and Pure-RTA-3 activates the GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. Pure-SEM-1 is a 31-amino-acid chain with a C18 fatty-acid side chain and a free-acid C-terminus, while the other two are 39-amino-acid chains with a C20 fatty-acid side chain and a C-terminal amide.
