Has ARA-290 been tested in people?+−
Yes, at phase 2. Two trials in sarcoidosis-associated small fiber neuropathy reported improvements, one in a 22-patient pilot and one in a 64-patient trial where the middle of three doses increased corneal nerve fiber area significantly and the doses either side of it did not. In the same trial, pain improved in every group including placebo. A separate 12-week trial in diabetic macular edema found no change on its main measures and reported no safety problems.
