What is Cerebrolysin?
Cerebrolysin is not a single peptide. It is a mixture made by using enzymes to break down purified protein from pig brain, leaving a blend of short peptides and free amino acids. What do the clinical trials show?+−
A 2023 systematic review pooled seven randomized trials in 1,773 participants after acute ischemic stroke. It found no difference in all-cause death, and an increase in the number of people experiencing non-fatal serious adverse events, both at moderate-certainty evidence.
