What is Selank?
Selank is a chain of seven amino acids. Four of them are copied from tuftsin, a short natural chain that comes from an antibody protein, and the other three are added on the end to slow it being broken down. It came out of a Russian research program in Moscow, and all the published work on it is in rats. Tuftsin itself has its own separate research behind it, and none of that is research on this chain.

Does Selank act on GABA signaling?+−
One published study reports that applying Selank to rat hippocampal slices increased both the amplitude and the frequency of spontaneous inhibitory currents. The same study found no significant dose-dependence across the concentrations tested, and reported that in some neurons the increase was preceded by a transient decrease. That is the whole of the direct electrophysiological evidence, and the Published Research tab reports it with those qualifications.
Is research on tuftsin research on Selank?+−
No. Tuftsin is a natural four-residue peptide derived from immunoglobulin G, with its own immunological literature. Selank is that sequence with three further residues, Pro-Gly-Pro, attached at one end. They are different compounds, and no tuftsin finding appears on this page.
