What is Semax?
Semax is a chain of seven amino acids. Four of them are copied from a natural human hormone called ACTH, and the other three are added on the end to slow the chain being broken down. It came out of a Russian research program in Moscow and almost all the published work on it is Russian. It has been studied in rats and in rat brain cells, and in people recovering from an interruption of blood flow to the brain.

How stable is Semax after administration?+−
Published work in rats reports rapid enzymatic degradation. Two minutes after an intranasal dose, about 80% of the labeled material recovered from brain was intact Semax and the remainder was metabolites; across biological samples the tripeptide Pro-Gly-Pro predominates. Is Semax the same as ADAMAX?+−
No. ADAMAX is this heptapeptide with an acetyl group added at one end and an adamantane group at the other. Those modifications make it a different compound, and no published study has measured what they change. Research findings for Semax are not findings for ADAMAX.
