Thymosin Beta-4 is a chain of 43 amino acids. It is found in almost every cell in the body and was first described in thymus tissue. The material sold here is made in the laboratory. It carries a small chemical cap at one end, matching the natural form. A seven-amino-acid stretch inside it, LKKTETQ, is sold separately as TB-500. TB-500 is that short piece. This is the whole peptide. Research on it has centered on the scaffolding inside cells, on the heart after injury, and on the surface of the eye and skin.

What has been published on Thymosin Beta-4 in people?+−
Two phase 1 studies in healthy volunteers reported acceptable tolerability without measuring benefit. A randomized trial in 96 people after a heart attack reported a significant reduction in infarcted area in the subgroup treated earliest, and no significant difference across the whole trial. Two phase 2 studies followed, one in nine people with severe dry eye and one in 73 with venous leg ulcers. The venous ulcer trial reported safety comparable to placebo and a hedged efficacy conclusion, that one of the tested concentrations may have potential to accelerate healing.
